Invitation from Daniel Pipes

Daniel PipesDear Reader:

It is my pleasure to invite you to join me on a visit to Israel on March 7-15, 2012. In conjunction with Heritage Study Programs, a leading tour arranger, I will be heading a trip that focuses on my interests and offers unique insights into current problems. I heartily welcome you to what will be an inexpensive, informative, and enjoyable week.

My focus is Israel's own population of Muslims, known as Israeli Arabs.

With the relentless focus on U.S.-Israel relations, Hamas, and regional turmoil, this gets little attention, but which I consider vitally critical to Israel's welfare and survival. After Iran and the West Bank-Gaza problems have been resolved, how does the Jewish state deal with Israeli Arabs? Twenty percent of its citizens are largely opposed to its existence and in some cases actively disloyal to it.

What must Israelis do to preserve the Zionist achievement in the long term, how does Israel deal with this growing, alienated population? Are Israeli Arabs now Palestinians? Where do Israeli Arabs fit in the constellation of Middle East alliances?

Please join me and Khaled Abu Toameh, the distinguished Jerusalem Post journalist, in an unprecedented opportunity to explore and analyze first hand this and related subjects. The trip will include travels to key sites, informative meetings, and lively panel discussions.

You will meet with Israeli-Arab leaders, academics and researchers, with intelligence, police, military officers, high government officials, policy makers and counterterrorism experts. We will participate in a conference at the Begin Center on Muslim attitudes toward Jerusalem. In addition, you will have a chance to visit some of Israel's most renowned sites, including the Western Wall, the Temple Mount, the Sea of Galilee, and the Golan Heights.

Neither tour nor mission, this will be a fascinating fact-finding expedition. I hope to see you all with me in Tel Aviv, Haifa, the Galilee, Jerusalem and many other points of interest.

Sincerely,

Daniel Pipes
